Hong Kong Design Centre

Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) is a non-profit organisation that works with government bodies and associations related to industry, commerce, trade, education and culture, to promote design as an essential component in business and to increase awareness of the ways in which design can contribute to our quality of life and prosperity.

HKDC serves as a vital link between businesses and designers, propelling Asian design into the 21st century, raising design standards and fostering design-related education.

Hong Kong has long been recognised as a leading design centre in the Asia Pacific region. Positioned at the crossroads of Asia and at the gateway to China, Hong Kong designers are ideally placed to help companies promote their products and services throughout the region and beyond.
As such, the three key goals of HKDC are to:

  • encourage and promote design excellence,
  • add value to Hong Kong's economy, and
  • establish Hong Kong as a recognised design hub in the international arena

HKDC organises many events and programmes in line with these goals, including its flagship project Business of Design Week (BODW), an annual gathering of thousands of the world's renowned designers hosted by HKDC in Hong Kong.

HKDC was established in 2001 by the Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations with support from the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

Founding members include the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), the Interior Design Association Hong Kong (HKIDA), the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA), and the Chartered Society of Designers Hong Kong (CSDHK).
